Global Sources Summit capped an amazing 2017 as it clinched the Best Amazon Conference prize at the Seller Awards 2017. The announcement came shortly after the three-day event concluded its fourth edition on October19 at the AsiaWorld Expo in Hong Kong.
Having been featured earlier this year on Forbes’ list of top business conferences to attend, the award reaffirms Global Sources Summit as the choice conference for Amazon sellers, selected by Amazon sellers.
Global Sources Summit: 2017 in review
In only its second year and fourth iteration, Global Sources Summit has already left an impression among Amazon sellers, holding its own against other larger scale Amazon conferences around the world.
In April, the Summit attracted a record attendance of over 100 participants from 22 countries and five continents. With the theme “Learn, Network, Source,” the event highlighted its three biggest propositions to online and Amazon sellers, including the convenience of sourcing at Global Sources’ co-located exhibitions.
Global Sources Summit in October, on the other hand, drew over 90 attendees and recorded its largest contingent of North America-based sellers to date. For the first time, the Summit targeted intermediate and advanced sellers and carried the theme “Source Smarter, Sell Better, and Profit More.” A record 22 speakers imparted sourcing and selling best practices, and secrets to increasing profitability. Ten companies, including Payability, China Sourcing Academy, and Cash Cow Pro, sponsored the Summit. Payment solutions provider Currenxie sponsored a pre-Summit networking meetup at Zentral cocktail bar in Central Hong Kong.
Additionally, an all-new, intensive Mastermind Session was launched for six-figure sellers to pit their grueling business questions before four Amazon experts — Will Tjernlund, Manuel Becvar, Danny McMillan and Sean Smith. The session was well-received and attended by one quarter of Summit participants.
Significance of Seller Awards
Crowning the year was Global Sources Summit’s Best Amazon Conference accolade at the inaugural Seller Awards 2017. Seller Awards is an annual award established by Amazon expert seller and consultant Will Tjernlund, and nominated and voted for by e-commerce and Amazon sellers and professionals, to recognize the best software, business services, and individuals in the industry.
Global Sources Summit’s win at the Seller Awards is a pleasant surprise as the event beat out larger conferences in other cities. The accolade gives insight into how online and Amazon sellers are valuing education and willing to travel internationally to upskill and pursue sourcing opportunities.
Indeed, a handful of participants consider themselves digital nomads and remote workers, and are represented even in non-Amazon based countries, including Singapore, Egypt, Panama, and Uganda.
Plans for 2018 and beyond
Global Sources Summit aims to grow significantly in the next few years, and retain its position as the world’s best Amazon conference.
Here’s what some of the attendees had to say about the Summit:
“The event is not going to help me generate thousands of dollars per month; it’s going to help me generate hundreds of thousands of dollars! If you’re coming to Asia in April 2018, you really must put this onto your agenda. Start planning now!” – Chris Davey (Source From Asia)
“It’s been really enjoyable meeting tons of other great sellers. There were lots of great presentations: I just came out of a phenomenal presentation and I already have new ideas. I love the out-of-the-box thinking that goes on here.” – Michael Quinn (Maveriq Brands)
