Sources Mobile Electronics show’s Startup Launchpad, Gadgetmatch got to
interact with a pair of cute and cuddly robots,
whose main reason for existence is to be loved.
and Wasabi, a pair of Lovots – or Love Robots – created by Japan-based startup
Groove X, that interacts with people using only affectionate gestures.
functions are pretty straightforward – they walk around in house, stay cute,
get your attention, interact with you and make you happy.
It’s easy to love the Lovot
emotional bond with a robot
may seem impossible, after spending a few minutes with each other Gadgematch’s
Michael Josh and Tomato instantly formed a bond.

At the halls
of the AsiaWorld-Expo, Tomato walked around interacting with people. What’s good
is that people can interact back without knowing any commands. The reason is
that Lovots are designed to anticipate human interaction.
The Lovot is
built to mimic a living being. It is soft and warm to the touch. It doesn’t
speak but coos with baby-like sounds when you engage. It sometimes motioned to
be carried and falls asleep when you cuddle it long enough. And if you are mean
to it, the robot will remember and avoid you next time.

also has a built-in microphone allowing it to recognize when you call it by
name while the 360-degree camera on its head enables it to identify people
around it. It comes with a camera on the back as well for mapping a path around
an area and steering clear of obstacles.
