Biometric smart locks such as fingerprint cards are increasing in popularity with their convenience and smooth and secure access. Global Sources offers various smart door locks with fingerprint, Bluetooth, card and key support, and we do see continuing demand for these features, as well as continuing developments in the functions that suppliers are able to offer.
Because of the pandemic, it is easy for one to think that demands for consumer products may decline automatically. Not the case for PCs. According to preliminary results from Gartner, PC shipments for first quarter of 2021 recorded a 32% of year-over-year growth, totaling 69.9 million units. This is the fastest year-over-year growth recorded since the company began tracking the PC market in 2000. Meanwhile, the US, EMEA and Asia Pacific markets saw an impressive growth for the same period, ranging from 24% – 37.6%. China’s PC shipments also soared, recording a 70% year-by-year growth.
Intra-region trade is an important feature of the EU’s textile and apparel industry. Despite the increasing pressure from cost-competitive Asian suppliers, statistics from UNComtrade show that of the EU region’s total US$73.8bn textile imports in 2019, as much as 54.6% were in the category of intra-region trade. Similarly, of EU countries’ total US$204.0bn apparel imports in 2019, as much as 37.4% also came from other EU members. In comparison, close to 98% of apparel consumed in the United States are imported in 2019, of which more than 75% came from Asia.
