Amazon Singapore was the featured speaker at Global Sources’ most recent meetup for online sellers.
Held on December 13 in Singapore, the event attracted about 45 online sellers. They were treated to a presentation on how to start selling on Amazon.com by Maia Qiu, Head of Channel & Partnership Development.
This event is part of an ongoing series of such gatherings the company hosts in Singapore and Hong Kong. The objective of these events is to increase awareness of Global Sources among this increasingly important and fast-growing buyer segment, and to engage with them to better understand their needs.
At each event, we invite one or two experts in e-commerce or sourcing to share best practices and their experiences with attendees.
Highlighting the significance of Amazon’s participation, Bernie Holmbraker, Vice President, Community and Content told Exchange, “Amazon is the de facto global leader in online retail. We are excited to collaborate with them on a shared mission of keeping both current and aspiring e-tailers informed about opportunities in online selling, while also raising awareness of Global Sources’ position as an integral and critical part of the online retail supply chain.”

Learning and inspiring
Bernie kicked off the Dec. 13 meetup by introducing Global Sources to attendees and explaining how our services help serve their needs.
In the presentation, Maia Qiu pointed out that Amazon has about 285 million active global customer accounts. She then went over the steps of creating a seller account and listing products and followed that with an explanation of Fulfilment By Amazon (FBA) and sponsored products.
In her closing remarks, Meghla Bhardwaj, Senior Content Marketing Strategy Manager noted how big of an opportunity Amazon offers to entrepreneurs. She cited the example of a seller who grew from zero to $1.3 million in sales in less than a year.
Co-working space The Hive sponsored the venue for the event. WorldFirst, a payment solutions provider for e-commerce sellers also partnered with us for the event.
The event was streamed live on Global Sources’ Facebook page and was viewed over 1,300 times.
Attendees were given a folder that contained Global Sources marketing materials, a charging cable premium, and a brochure and a premium from WorldFirst.
After the presentations, attendees networked over pizza and soft drinks.
