Makers in the province enhance efficiency and safety in upcoming releases.
A well-established supplier base, strategic geographical location and government backing combine to bolster Zhejiang’s position as a leading hub in China for medical and patient care supplies.
The province accounted for $1.06 billion of the country’s total exports in the line in 2H12, about 13 percent of the $8 billion total. It is currently the nation’s fourth largest exporting province for this industry.
Many Zhejiang-based makers belong to the country’s top disposable medical consumable, dressing and healthcare product companies. Ltd ranked 10 and 11 among China’s major enterprises in the sector in 2011. The former led the dressings category.
Wenzhou, Tonglu and Shaoxing are the centers of R&D and manufacture in Zhejiang. The first is home to about 100 suppliers of a range of medical and patient care supplies, including stethoscopes, disposable injections and blood pressure monitors.
Endoscopes lead output in Tonglu, while Shaoxing boasts a strong medical dressing sector supported by a comprehensive textile industry.
To further take advantage of the province’s long coastline, the local government continues to invest in the establishment of seaports. The latest infusion was provided last year, and amounted to $2.23 billion.
Currently, there are 185 wharfs with an aggregate capacity reaching 10 kiloton and 925 megaton throughput.
