Shenzhen Makers bolster camera chargers & filters categories

The second installment in this two-part series discusses the key camera accessories from Shenzhen.

The camera accessories industry in Shenzhen, in China’s Guangdong province, continues to grow at a steady pace. The selection includes chargers, filters, batteries, remote controls and lens hoods. The first two remain the strongest categories in terms of production.

The line will likely expand further as makers boost R&D on higher-value releases such as flashes, tripods and battery grips. HongKong Yuanhengli Technology Co. Ltd, for example, is enhancing the operating range of its IR remote controls while streamlining the external design.

A few suppliers pursue lens production as well. This is despite the dominance of foreign enterprises such as Canon, Nikon and Carl Zeiss due to the high technology threshold.

Makers from Shenzhen expect quotes to stay at current levels because of stiff competition and to grab more orders, especially in Europe and the US. Companies implementing markups amid climbing costs and the yuan’s appreciation will limit these to within 5 percent.
