LED models have replaced CCFL alternatives in the 32in and larger sector. They will account for more than half of units in the 17 to 22in segment in coming months.
- LED models rising: Makers forecast the supply share of LED monitors will climb further in the months ahead. In the 32in and larger segment, models with LED backlight have replaced traditional CCFL variants. More companies are releasing 22in LED versions to take advantage of declining prices. Suppliers predict more than half of monitors in the 17 to 22in sector will have LED backlight in the next six to 12 months.
- HDMI port becoming standard: Makers are building in HDMI support to enable products to work with HD devices such as DVRs and matrix systems and deliver full HD resolution. Although BNC ports will remain available, more releases will have HDMI. Multiport designs are expected to gain traction as well.
- HD-SDI gathering steam: Many suppliers are developing units with HD-SDI and SD-SDI input. These cover different screen sizes from 15 to 82in.
