Suppliers direct R&D efforts toward greater engine performance and lower noise levels. Design trends highlight increased product mobility.
- Diesel types to lead: Both diesel and gasoline models are in strong supply. Greater efficiency and reliability, however, will push output of diesel variants in the months ahead.
- Feature upgrades: R&D initiatives emphasize better-quality engines and lower noise levels. Many makers continue to utilize local engines for cost considerations, but more will turn to imported variants such as those from Kohler, Generac and Briggs & Stratton for enhanced performance. Silent generators with 75dB or less noise level will increase in supply. These are suitable for residential, small workshop, convenience store, camping and recreational vehicle use. As for wattage, the typical rated value is 1 to 10kW, with peak output hitting 25kW.
- Greater mobility & safety: Companies are developing more generators with two to four wheels. They are likewise building in oil pressure monitor, security alerts and overload protection.
