Multichannel lifestyle retailer Brookstone, Inc. presented the Best Vendor Award to nine of its suppliers from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong last April 11 in Shenzhen. Two of the Taiwan awardees have combined annual sales exceeding $10 million.
The awards were handed out at the annual vendors party during a ceremony participated in by more than 200 of Brookstone’s supplier representatives. All of the retailer’s current vendors are from the Greater China region.
In his speech, CEO James Speltz discussed opportunities and challenges facing Brookstone, including the stabilizing economy and growing consumer spending in the US, and the shrinking of the traditional retail market due to the rise of online shopping. Speltz also thanked Brookstone’s vendor community and encouraged members to strengthen their partnership with the retailer.
Asian Division managing director Howard Chen also spoke at the event, stressing that the partnership, trust and commitment between Brookstone and its vendors are the only ways to cope with the challenges Speltz listed. Chen also invited other Greater China suppliers to partner with Brookstone.
Brookstone operates more than 300 retail stores in the US and Puerto Rico. It also operates a direct-marketing business, including catalogs, e-mail and affiliate marketing and an online site.
