New blenders highlight multifunctionality, safety

The latest releases can crush ice and make soy milk, and are equipped with safety interlock switches.

  • Multipurpose models: Many of the latest releases come with interchangeable blades, allowing units to grind, crush ice and make soy milk. Versions capable of slicing, chopping and juice extraction are available as well.
  • Increased safety: Mainstream designs are equipped with overheating protection systems. Safety interlock switches, which halt operation when the lids are not properly sealed, are also standard. To prevent appliances from tipping over, most models have nonslip silicone feet.
  • Tougher containers: Jars made of stainless steel or aluminum alloy are replacing traditional plastic and glass variants. Although metal is generally costlier, manufacturers prefer the material as this yields more durable parts. Some units have chrome-plated containers.
  • Price projection: Suppliers anticipate between 3 and 8 percent rise in quotes in the next half-year. Swelling material and manpower expenses, and the yuan’s appreciation are the main factors triggering such prediction.
