New water treatment appliances come with several purification levels, while output of RO and UF systems rises.
China suppliers of household water systems are utilizing upgraded components in the latest releases to boost product performance.

Many companies are raising output of filtration systems that have 10 levels of purification, including air, activated carbon and zero-waste RO filters, and UV generators. These represent a step up from earlier units, which have five to eight stages.
The adoption of UF and RO systems has gone up in recent months. New models from Cixi Aibote Enviromental Technologies Industry Co. Ltd combine both types. Such items are suitable for home and office applications, and can be used with municipal tap water supply.
Ningbo Lamo Electric Appliance Co. Ltd is developing RO water purification machines employing several cleaning methods. Products automatically shut down when there is no water or if the reservoir is full. These releases are also CB-certified.
Efforts are being made to raise safety attributes, which are a major concern for the line.
At most companies, units meet CE, UL, GSA, SASO, TÜV, IEL, CB and RoHS standards.

Household water supply systems from China are offered in the water purifier and filter, RO technology and POU machine categories.
Materials play a significant role in determining prices. Plastic, usually ABS and PP, is popular for housings. Imported 304 stainless steel is utilized in select upscale models for better durability and quality.
Mainstream units come with PP or ABS front exterior shells, and cold-rolled steel sides. Some adopt anti-bacterial ABS for all plastic components, while others use stainless steel. PP is also seen in filters, which have a life span of three to six months.
Typical RO machines employ PP cotton, activated carbon and reverse osmosis membranes to clean. The first can catch objects down to 5 microns in diameter, including sediment, rust particles, suspended solids and other macromolecular impurities.
Granular activated carbon absorbs chlorine, odors and organic pollutants, while the compressed form performs purification further. This agent increases oxygen content and improves water taste as well.
The majority of established China suppliers utilize RO membranes from Dow Chemical. These components have a filter pore size of 0.0001μ, and can remove bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, organic pollutants and pesticide residue effectively.
Water filters are made mostly of plastic, ceramic and stainless steel. Material selection is dependent on product segment. The RO and UF configurations are typical, but the former costs 200 percent more and is therefore employed only in high-end models.
Intended mainly for low-end and midrange units, UF types are applied in industries such as surface water clarification and wastewater treatment. They provide good pretreatment for RO systems as filtrate with minimal turbidity can be consistently delivered regardless of feed water quality. Compared with conventional water-treatment technologies, systems require a smaller space and often have less operating outlay.
Further, UF technology is used to remove high molecular-weight substances, colloidal materials, and bacterial, organic and inorganic polymeric molecules.
These utilize 20 percent of the energy consumed by RO types and require only low pressure to achieve suitable flux rates from the membrane.
RO systems are considered by many to perform the cleanest water treatment. They are capable of removing most sediments and particulates down to less than 0.0005μ, bacteria, viruses, nearly all heavy metals, asbestos, chlorine, fluoride, and a wide range of VOCs. To augment RO and UF technology, an increasing number of suppliers are installing UV and ozone generators in their products.
China’s household water supply systems industry is currently enjoying stronger demand. The majority of interviewed companies experienced export sales growth of 15 to 30 percent in 2010, and anticipate figures to double in the next six months. These positive expectations are fueled by rising global health consciousness.
In addition to the traditional markets of the US and the EU, many makers plan to expand overseas destinations to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe.
