Suppliers use SMD LEDs and imported raw materials to boost product performance further.
- T8 LED tubes dominate: The category represents about 80 percent of China’s total output of LED tubes. The product is preferred to T2, T3 and T4 types because of its size, greater energy savings and longer life span. Although T5 variants are gaining popularity, cost and ballast considerations will hinder adoption.
- Improved efficiency: The luminous efficacy is typically at 100 lm/W, while color temperature ranges from 2,000 to 7,000K. Models can have a power rating exceeding 30W. Lengths range from 0.6 to 1.5m. The life span is 20,000 to 50,000hr, with some units supporting more than 100,000hr. To boost performance further, 2835 or 5050 SMD diodes are utilized, replacing insert types. Aluminum PCB is adopted for the housing to enhance heat radiation and transferability. Employing PC covers increases light transparency from 80 to 90 percent or even beyond 92 percent. Many suppliers procure these components from overseas companies, for instance those based in Taiwan, despite higher costs.
- Boosting features & functions: Dimmers are among the popular add-ons. These come with controllers that allow the user to adjust the brightness. Some makers integrate a sensor.
