Electronic cigarette makers emphasize improved vapor volume, flavor

R&D advancements revolve around increasing smoke volume and enhancing the taste.

  • Two-part units gain steam: Cartomizer models are rising in popularity as these allow for increased volume of smoke and stronger flavor than three-part designs. Two-piece units also come with disposable cartridges, ensuring that the parts are clean and not clogged with old liquid, which could affect the taste. Products are good for 800 puffs on a full charge, with some releases exceeding 1,200 puffs.
  • Diverse flavors: Units that mimic the taste of popular cigarette brands dominate. Fruit, coffee, chocolate, tea and soda flavors are also available.
  • User convenience & safety: A number of designs feature LEDs in varying colors to indicate how much longer the cigarette can be used. Some releases are bundled with USB cables, and regular and car chargers. A few high-end units are equipped with overheating and -charging protection systems.
