Food-grade gift tins lead selection

Suppliers are boosting output of food-grade models to meet demand.

  • Food-grade models An estimated 40 to 60 percent of China’s gift tin selection is used as containers for candy, liquids, powdered milk, sugar and oil. To meet growing demand, manufacturers will boost yield by 3 to 5 percent.
  • Novelty contours: Rectangular, round, heart and triangular shapes still dominate the line. Suppliers, however, expect the output share of irregular releases to rise by 5 percent to reach 12 to 15 percent in the following months. Examples are products resembling cartoon characters, animals, beverage cans and bottles, and houses.
  • Oriental prints: Companies are responding to increasing demand for Chinese culture-inspired patterns with more models adopting flower, bamboo, fish, poem, cartoon and nature themes. Buyer-specific designs are still accepted.
  • Price forecast: Although crude oil costs are declining, inflation, and shipping and tin outlay have been on the rise. These factors will push up quotes between 5 and 10 percent.
