Makers are also introducing fashionable and sporty styles to enhance aesthetics and broaden selections.



  • Enhanced design: More makers are using full-grain and split leather for the upper, the former particularly for police and army-use models, and the second to add a sporty look. Some companies are mixing genuine leather vamps with colored fabric or using contrast stitching to increase visual appeal and variety.
  • Better protection: Suppliers adopt steel for the midsole and toecap to protect the foot from falling objects or compression, and to prevent punctures.
  • Improved features: Warmth retention is enhanced by adding a fleece coating to the insole or using neoprene or Canberra for the lining. To boost slip and abrasion resistance, companies mix and match rubber, PU, TPU and PVC for the outsole.
