PU leather cases dominate. Makers diversify designs and features to boost competitiveness.
- Synthetic releases lead: With about 80 percent share of total output of leather cases for iPad mini, synthetic types will continue to dominate the line because of their lower price compared with genuine varieties. PU leather cases, in particular, occupy about 90 percent of synthetic leather releases, while cowhide and sheepskin models lead the genuine leather segment. For hard cases, PC is widely used. Makers source inputs locally but can import cowhide and sheepskin on request.
- Diversified designs: Companies are developing more styles to match varied buyer requirements. Folio types are suitable for daily use, while cartoon and animal themes target children. Trendier, fashion-sensitive options are for the younger population. Suppliers can customize logos and colors as well.
- Features & functions: Models allow full access to the screen, volume button, camera and ports. Most units double as a stand with adjustable angles. More variants are incorporating magnetic tape closure and slots for a credit card, cash and even a pen. Some models can put the iPad on dormant mode. Almost all products pass RoHS and REACH standards.
