USB 3.0 flash drive supply in China on the rise

The latest USB 3.0 flash drives support up to 80 and 40MBps read and write rates.

  • Larger capacity: The mainstream sizes are 2, 4, 8, 16 and 32GB. Some entry-level models, usually premiums or giveaways, support 512MB or 1GB. The trend for USB 3.0 is, however, spurring the release of larger-capacity units delivering up to 64GB or more.
  • Novelty & multifunction designs: Many of the latest releases feature novelty styles for increased appeal. Some double as ID cards.
  • Value added: USB 2.0 flash drives remain dominant, delivering 10 to 30MBps read and 3 to 10MBps write rates. USB 3.0 versions support 30 to 80MBps read and 15 to 40MBps write speeds. Some enhanced units enable 100MBps for both. Most releases are plug-and-play, and shock- and moisture-resistant, and can retain data for 10 years.
