Manufacturers of women's robes in China are concentrating on basic designs to keep prices competitive despite high production expenses. A large number of recently launched models come in a single, solid color. White, black, beige, pink, red, blue, green and purple are the usual choices. For added visual appeal, the collar or pocket edges are sometimes trimmed with lace.

Patterned versions are available as well. Apart from polka dots, hearts, clubs, stripes and flowers, animal-skin themes are increasingly becoming popular. Motifs are printed, embossed or burned out on select portions or allover the garment.
Several suppliers are releasing styles that have hoods. The head covering may feature decorative pig, bear or dog ears.
To increase product value, many companies are offering sets that include hair wraps and bath gloves. These can be packed in gift boxes. Others are adopting environment-friendly fabrics in their selections. Rayon from bamboo is the top option because its anti-bacterial and -fungal properties make garments resist foul odor. The material also repels static and is hypoallergenic. It is typically blended with polyester or organic cotton.
The design of women's robes from China varies according to the seasons. Summer models often come in woven, reactive-dyed polyester or silk, and reach the hip, knee or calf. They have shawl collars and cuffed sleeves.
Pure polyester or cotton, or 80:20 polyester-nylon terry, flannel, fleece, velour and microfiber are commonly adopted in autumn, winter and spring releases. The textiles, which may be brushed on one or both sides, weigh between 150 and 360gsm.
Materials account for 60 to 70 percent of manufacturing costs, and therefore are the key price determinants.
The least expensive women's robes start at $2.50 and reach $8 per piece. They come in pure polyester satin, or coral or micropolar fleece. Models can also be made of 80:20 polyester-nylon.
Woven types usually weigh 80 to 120gsm, while knitted versions are 150 to 320gsm. Hip-, knee- and calf-length variants have shawl collars, three-quarter or full sleeves, and two pockets. They are often in solid shades. Logos are either embroidered or embossed. Chiffon or lace may trim the collar, cuffs and hem.
Knitted polyester or cotton microfiber, terry, polar fleece, velour and waffle are commonly employed in midrange styles, which go for $9 to $16. Fabrics are between 260 and 360gsm.
Plain and patterned designs are available. Motifs are printed, embossed or burned out. The construction is similar to the products in the low end. Hooded variants and gift sets belong to the intermediate category as well.
High-end women's robes are priced at $17 to $50. They can be made of velour or charmeuse in pure silk, or rayon from bamboo with organic cotton or polyester. Releases often boast allover prints. Several have piping along the collar,while a few adopt down padding. Silk models sometimes feature handpainted figures.
