The beads are typically made of acrylic, resin, ABS and PS. Wooden, glass, and aluminum and zinc alloy variants are popular options as well. These decorations often have round, tubular, square and heart forms. More unusual contours include pyramids and leaves.

Sequins and rhinestones are also utilized as additional ornaments. The former come in PVC, PET, PS or aluminum and highlight an iridescent finish. CZs and Swarovski crystals are used in upscale models.

Further, link and ball chains are being employed as they can both complement the other embellishments or provide contrast.

While most components are arranged in rows or columns, motifs such as birds or flowers may be formed. Makers also offer fringed designs.

Companies often request pigment vendors to furnish them with the complete chemical composition of coloring agents. China-made bead trims for garments, home textiles, shoes, bags and belts start at $0.30 per yard and may exceed $2.80, depending on the kind and quantity of materials adopted.

Prices have gone up 10 to 20 percent YoY due to high fabrication costs. Exporters project quotes will undergo another round of increases in the months ahead, but cannot specify the rate.

Products between $0.30 and $1.75 are considered low-end. Measuring 0.5 to 6cm wide, they are decorated with sequins, and acrylic, wooden, glass and resin beads.

The first and the last two are also employed in upscale models, which start at $1.80. In addition, rhinestones, resin buttons and faux pearls adorn releases. Imported components are typical in the most expensive variants.

Midrange and high-end bead trims can have a single- or double-layer ground. The width reaches 25cm.
