Participants in the Professional A/V Products: Private Sourcing Event prioritize multifunctionality and competitive pricing.
Several China manufacturers are pushing for the adoption of the country’s homegrown red-ray optical technology, the HD Next-generation Versatile Disc or HD NVD, into the local and global market. To this end, makers continue to emphasize quality, multiple functions and affordable prices.
Apart from red-ray, the model MBD-U6 media player is also compatible with VCD and DVD formats, and plays CD and MiniBD discs directly. “The quality is similar to Blu-ray, and we are already promoting the player in the China market,” sales manager Tony Liu said. “We are also exploring offering the product overseas.” The push for HD NVD stems from the hefty royalty fee that China suppliers pay for manufacturing DVD and Bluray products. DVD alone has cost companies about $3 billion annually. Under the endeavor, Tianyue Audio Technology Co. Ltd and Enping Mengcart Professional Audio Fty showcased professional A/V devices that highlight multifunctionality and high performance at the PSE. Shifting user needs drive R&D Comprising A/V mixers, PA systems, and equalizers, analyzers and crossovers, China’s selection of professional A/V products is driven by shifting user requirements and stiff price competition. R&D activities emphasize design and performance, although bundled accessories and value-added features are likewise highlighted in upcoming releases. Shenzhen JWL is an early adopter of HD NVD. Its model MBD-U6 media player supports NVD/VCD/DVD playback, and CD and MiniBD. The unit supports H.264, VC-1, MPEG-1/2/4, AVCHD or CBHD, TS, MKV, WMV, TP, AVI, M2TS, VOB, MOV, DivX and Xvid formats. It also decodes DTS, AC3, LPCM, AAC, MP3, WMA and OGG and enables DTS HD and TrueHD. The HDMI 1.3a-compliant model comes with touch buttons, a VFD screen, and component, composite and S-Video output ports. Audio-out interfaces include optical fi ber, coaxial, and analog 7.1- and 2-channel jacks. An RJ- 45 network port and two USB 2.0 host ports are included. Additionally, the product is bundled as an HD A/V center, which includes a full-HD TV, mount and sound bar. “The product is suitable for schools, government agencies and other institutional customers and can also come with NVD discs,” Liu said. The company also offers a UVD media player featuring a black plastic housing with a streamlined design. The product decodes DAT, MPG, VOB, AVI, DivX, RM/RMVB, MPEG-4, MOV and other video formats. It can also process MP3, WMA, WMV, OGG and FLAC music files, and JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG and TIFF digital pictures. The device includes a USB host port for connecting a portable HDD or a USB flash drive. It also has an SD/MMC slot and a full-function remote control. Composite A/V and component video output jacks are provided. HDMI support is optional. Professional mixers lead the latest products from Tianyue, which come with additional functions and use original DSPs. The MG24/14FX model, for instance, has 24 line channels, 4-band channel equalizers, one stereo main bus and four stereo group buses. The unit is equipped with a digital signal processor or DSP for creating various sound effects. It also includes a time delay function, user-defined echo, 18Hz to 18kHz frequency response and consumes 100W. The E2222FX model, also from Tianyue, is an ultra low-noise, high-headroom analog mixer. It comes with eight microphone preamplifiers, 3-band equalizers with semi-parametric mid band and a studio-grade 24-bit stereo FX processor with 100 preset functions. The unit’s control panel includes long-wearing 60mm logarithmic taper faders and seal rotary controls, two subgroups with separate outputs, two multifunction stereo auxiliary returns, and USB and audio ports. It supports two auxiliary sends per channel. Rack-mount brackets are included for flexible configurations. Enping Mengcart, meanwhile, has released the EQ-231 model, a dual-channel 1/3-octave graphic equalizer. The product has constant Q rate filter, 2x31 frequency bands, input level control, overload display, bypass switch, and RF-filtered, servo-balanced input. It supports 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response, more than 95dB S/N ratio, 0.005 percent THD, 21dB maximum output level and 51ohm output impedance. The model AC23B active crossover, on the other hand, operates in 62 to 850Hz (x10) and 8.5 to 620Hz crossover frequency range. It has more than 100dB S/N ratio, 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response and below 0.03 percent THD. It comes with 0 to 360A phase correction and up to 6dB input and 12dB output gain. The dynamic range exceeds 118dB. The unit supports balanced/unbalanced input and output impedance of 20/10Kohm and 300/150Kohm, respectively. It is built with XLR and TRS I/O jacks. Enping Mengcart’s Linda Chan said the company’s A/V mixers are not as competitively priced as its equalizers and crossovers. “We use a lot of manual labor in manufacturing the mixers. As such, they are more expensive compared to our other products that use SMT.” By switching component suppliers, the company hopes to be able to lower production costs for the mixers without sacrificing quality. The maker also plans to release a new series of mixers with built-in DSP in the coming months. PSE brings makers, buyers closer Shenzhen’s Professional A/V Products event is among the more than 100 PSEs this year that have attracted numerous buyers, including major retailers Carrefour, Tesco, Metro and The Home Depot. Key cities in Jiangsu, Fujian and Zhejiang provinces, Shanghai, and India and Vietnam have hosted similar closed-door sessions, which feature prescreened and verified volume suppliers. Shenzhen JWL is an active PSE participant, having attended multiple events already. The company’s product line includes more than 200 models of UHF/VHF professional wireless microphones, portable wireless PA amplifier systems, waistband amplifiers, wireless tour guide and simultaneous interpretation systems. Car FM transmitters, wireless guitar systems, guitar amplifiers, USB/SD card reader modules, mini speakers, sound bars, HD media players, digital TV receivers and TV mounts are also offered. The latest releases include HDD media players, HD set-top boxes and USB receivers. Established in 1995, Shenzhen JWL’s 7,000sqm factory houses 11 shielded rooms and two SMT production lines. The company has served various OEM brands, including Skytronic, Hollywood, Scandyna, Premier, Nady, PylePro, and Acoustic Solution. A first-time participant, Tianyue presented new models of professional mixers, power and audio amplifiers. The Jiangmen, Guangdong-based company offers mixer consoles, professional amplifiers, karaoke amplifiers, sound boxes, equalizers, audio signal processors, microphone stands and related accessories. Tianyue, established in 1992, operates a 20,000sqm factory in the city of Enping in Jiangmen, Guangdong province. Nady, Sogetronic SA and Zulex are among the company’s OEM clients. Another Jiangmen-based manufacturer is Enping Mengcart, a supplier of power amplifiers, professional mixers, graphic equalizers, active crossovers, sonic maximizers, signal distributors and sequence power equipment. Founded in 1999, Enping Mengcart offers 70 models, with a new design introduced every three to six months.
